Protecting the environment
As scientists we understand the importance of conserving the planet’s scarce resources for future generations
- WWF (China)
Marine Ranger is a Centre-based “Education for Sustainable Development” Programme specially designed for secondary school students. By conducting field visit on the beach, marine litter survey and coastal clean-up activities, students can understand the globally concerned marine litter problem and are encouraged to think about their impacts of living habits towards the environment. Four Schools have benefited from Eurofins' donation, encouraging students to think about the impact of their living habits towards the environment.
- SurfRider (France)
Surfrider Foundation Europe - Surfrider Foundation is a worldwide not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the protection and enhancement of lakes, rivers, oceans, waves and the coastline. Founded in 1990 by a handful of local surfers, today it brings together over 9,000 members in Europe and is represented in 14 countries through its chapters of volunteers.
Eurofins' donation was allocated, among others project, to "Antimicrobial resistance and Ocean": Carry out a scientific watch and set up an antimicrobial resistance analysis protocol for the Aquitaine coast adapted to humans in view of the revision of Directive 2006/7 / EC. - UNICEF (Germany)
Globally, waterborne illnesses are a leading cause of death for children under five, killing nearly 1,000 children every day. UNICEF works in more than 100 countries to improve access to safe, clean water and sanitation facilities. Whether by delivering clean water after a disaster or promoting safe hygiene practices in schools and communities, UNICEF is on the ground helping children in need. As a service company that tests drinking water, Eurofins is particularly aware that life is not possible without clean drinking water. Our donation is aimed at empowering people with this knowledge in other countries.
- Walking for Water (Denmark)
Walking for Water is a Danish organisation run entirely by volunteers. All donations were used directly for local projects that ensure clean water in Africa. The organization was started by Charlie Uldahl Christensen, who went on a pilgrimage to raise awareness and donations, walking from Denmark to Tanzania. Eurofins supported the installation of a water pump in a village in Sierra Leone which will ensure clean, safe water.
- PLAN International (North Vietnam)
Eurofins co-funded a WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) project in North Vietnam. The goal was to improve safe water access and community participation in the management, operation and maintenance of water supply systems in the Ha Giang province, where 90% of the inhabitants are from ethnic minorities.
10-15 piped systems and connection to the households were installed, as well as a water treatment system using sand filters. - Swedish Society for Nature Conservation (Sweden)
The Swedish Society for Nature Conservation is a charitable environmental organisation with the power to bring about change. They spread knowledge, chart environmental threats, propose solutions and influence politicians and authorities, both nationally and internationally. Eurofins supported the project Save the Baltic Sea aimed at protecting the marine environment from threats such as over fishing, pollutants, micro plastics and eutrophication. The work focussed on 5 main areas: sustainable fisheries management of cod, eel and salmon; leisure boating with reduced negative effect on the marine environment; better management of marine protected areas; less marine litter and micro plastics in the sea; reducing eutrophication.
- Conservation Fund (USA)
Eurofins' donation helped support land conservation efforts in the US. The Conservation Fund works on re-defining conservation to demonstrate its essential role in our future prosperity and is allocating 97% of their resources toward their mission. Since 1985 they have protected more than 7.5 million acres of land, working in all 50 states; they've preserved forests, deserts, parks, waterways and every type of landscape in between. Their work benefits all Americans.
- Water for People (USA)
Water For People exists to promote the development of high-quality drinking water and sanitation services, accessible to all, and sustained by strong communities, businesses, and governments. This is a charity contributing to “safer and healthier lives”- 2.1 billion people around the world don't have access to safe water and 4.5 billion lack access to adequate sanitation. Women and children spend more than four hours walking for water each day, and more than 840,000 people die each year from water-related diseases. Eurofins' donation helped fund two of the organisation's projects.
