Aquatic plants

For the risk assessment of herbicides and plant growth regulators only a test with Lemna sp. is required for higher aquatic plants according to 91/414 EEC. Alternative test methods with Myriophyllum are under development since recent discussions raised the question whether Myriophyllum is more sensitive than Lemna.

Three different Myriophyllum species are reared inhouse under sterile conditions; M. spicatum, M. aquaticum and M. sibiricum. Several tests with Myriophyllum were already successful performed under GLP in the past with different test designs.

Our expertise increases continuously by participating two ring-testing groups, one for sediment-water testing and one for sediment free testing.

We can provide you with 10 different Lemna species for testing which are all cultured in-house under sterile conditions (e.g. L. gibba G3, L. minor, L. minuta, L. perpusilla, L. trisulca). With this large amount of different kind of water plants species sensitivity testing is possible.
