Community masks testing for France
Eurofins has been nominated by the French DGE (Direction Générale des Entreprises) as an approved laboratory to perform the mandatory tests to sell community masks (for non-sanitary usages) in France.
From 11th May 2020, it is mandatory to wear face masks in France in some public areas, such as transport. To cope with the high demand for non-sanitary usages masks, the French government has issued the cross-ministry information note on April 26th 2020 to provide a clear framework on how to use and test this new category of fabric masks (community masks) for the French market.
These community masks are divided into two categories: Category 1 for people in public places and Category 2 for protection of a group of people (office workers for example). It is important to note that, according to the French Agency for Normalization (Association française de normalization, AFNOR), these community masks are not personal protective equipment (PPE) or medical masks, and all other social and hygiene measures must still be followed duly.
Apart from requirements by French DGE, our AFNOR mask tests are also in compliance with the technical recommendations by the Belgian government.
