Hazardous substances in articles database
In 2021, all companies (EU producers, assemblers, importers, distributors, etc …) who are placing products on the EU market need to provide information to Substance of Concern in Products (SCIP) database about any hazardous substances. The database has been created by European Chemical Agency (ECHA) with the sole purpose of gathering information that is necessary for achieving the objectives of the Waste Framework Directive - Article 9 in accordance with the European Chemicals Agency (REACH) Regulation - Article 33.

On 11th December 2019, the European Commission published the following:
Regarding chemicals, the aim is to work together to protect people and the environment against hazardous chemicals such as endocrine disruptors.
To achieve this, the European Green Deal aims to improve legislation, based on scientific evidence on the risk posed by these harmful substances and provide transparent information regarding these substances.

Alignment of Swiss and European legislation for toys
On 5th November 2019, Swiss confederation published the Official Collection 2019 - 3367 with the aim to align the Swiss Toys Ordinance with the European Toy Safety Directive and entry 51 to Annex XVII of Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH).
It came into effect on the 1st December, 2019.

Update KKDIK regulation
On 29th November 2019, The Official gazette published Regulation nº 30963 which contains an amendment to the Regulation of Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (KKDIK). The main takeaways are:
- Addition of the following definitions in Article 4:
- Industrial Use: The use of a substance or mixture in industry
- Professional Use: The use of a substance or mixture outside the industry in areas such as education, health
- The addition of a new entry number 67 to Annex-17 restricted substances list
- Annex-XI was added to Annex-17 sub-annexes
This Regulation was implemented on the date of its publication.
California Proposition 65 Reformulations (December, 2019)
California Proposition 65 is the ‘Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986’, which has been effective for almost 30 years. Due to the implement of California Proposition 65, more and more court cases are settled to reduce the exposure of carcinogenic and reproductive chemicals by reformulating the consumer products containing such chemicals.
In order to keep retailers and manufacturers up-to-date, the highlights of the consent agreement are summarized as below:
