Exposure to persulfate substances from hair products

 

On 12th June 2019, Agence Nationale de Sécurité Sanitaire de Alimentation, de Environnement et du Travail (ANSES) published its expert work on persulfate ammonium, potassium and sodium substances used in hair bleaching products.

 

The Agency concludes that the use of persulfates poses health risks to hair professionals as well as consumers. ANSES recommends minimizing the exposure of professionals and the general public to products containing these substances.

China

 

New testing method has been included into Chapter 4 of China Cosmetic Safety and Technical Standards

 

On July 11th 2019, the China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) released Notice No. 2019-40. A new sunscreens testing method “Determination of 3-benzylidene camphor and other 21 kinds of sunscreens in cosmetics” has been newly included into Chapter 4, Item 5.8 of China Cosmetic Safety and Technical Standards.

 

As shown in the attachment of the testing methods provided by the NMPA, the following information has been detailed: description and explanation about the names, CAS No. and other information of these 22 sunscreens, as well as the testing methods, reagents and materials, instruments and equipment, analytical procedures, etc.

  3. Clarify the specifications for disposable cotton swabs and disposable diapers for children by eliminating the age criteria of 36 months that divides children into two groups
