Eurofins - the first VOC testing lab accredited for new European harmonized testing standard

In August 2013, Eurofins Product Testing A/S achieved the ISO 17025 accreditation for the new harmonized European VOC emission testing standard, CEN/TS 16516. CEN/TS 16516 will become the "mother of all VOC emissions testing standards" for construction products in Europe within the next months and years. It will form the basis of VOC emissions testing for CE marking as soon as the criteria for CE marking have been specified in near future. And this standard will be the testing frame of any further national regulations on VOC emissions in any Member State of the European Union. VOC limits may vary by country, but the testing method will be harmonized across Europe.

Eurofins Product Testing A/S is the very first testing lab who can offer accredited CEN/TS 16516 testing, and right today Eurofins Product Testing A/S is the only accredited lab for these tests - even though others certainly will follow soon. The testing standard CEN/TS 16516 is not yet published, but the final text for publication is known and forms the basis of this accreditation. And publication will occur in very near future.

This accreditation is a quality approval of our testing method and the related quality assurance program. The accreditation by the Danish accreditation body DANAK is valid world-wide because the national accreditation bodies mutually recognize all issued accreditations.

Eurofins Product Testing A/S is proud of being in front of serving industry with accredited testing following this new harmonized testing standard. This possibility supports our efforts to propose pan-European VOC tests to industry that give the best performance/costs ratio and that are accepted all across Europe. This will reduce the burden of testing costs for manufacturers of decorative and construction products.
