New amendments of EU Toy Safety Directive

 

On 19th and 20th November 2019, the European Commission published the following two Directives:

 

COMMISSION DIRECTIVE (EU) 2019/1922 of 18 November 2019 amending, for the purposes of adaptation to technical and scientific developments, point 13 of part III of Annex II to Directive 2009/48/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the safety of toys, as regards aluminium” 

 

The main point in this Directive is:

 

  • In point 13 of part III of Annex II to Directive 2009/48/EC, in the table, the entry for aluminium is replaced by the following:

The provision shall apply that provision from 20th May 2021.

 

And the second publication was:

 

Commission Directive (EU) 2019/1929 of 19 November 2019 amending Appendix C to Annex II to Directive 2009/48/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council for the purpose of adopting specific limit values for chemicals used in certain toys, as regards formaldehyde”

The main point in this Directive is:

 

  • In Appendix C to Annex II to Directive 2009/48/EC, the following entry is added:

The provision shall apply that provision from 21st  May 2021.
