Eurofins Bio-EC is a well-known expert in efficacy tests on ex vivo living human skin explants. Through histological, biochemical and genomic analyses, it is able to characterise any biological activity of a cosmetic product and can realise studies under dermatological, ophthalmological, gynecological or dentist control. With a well-equipped laboratory for clinical studies on volunteers and as a renowned research centre, BIO-EC has various comprehensive techniques, including, for example, RAMAN spectroscopy (which allows the evaluation of tissue distribution of a product) and transdermal diffusion (OECD428) to determine product penetration through human skin. It has also developed a skin surface sampling technique, which gives valuable complementary data to classical instrumental measurements in clinical studies.
