She's the First

She’s the First teams up with grassroots organisations to ensure girls everywhere are educated, respected, and heard. They aim to strengthen an ecosystem of underfunded community-based organisations (CBOs), reaching 140,000 girls annually. They improve girls’ graduation rates and life outcomes by providing CBOs with grants and training focused on girls’ sexual and reproductive health and rights, girl-centred programme design, and feminist mentorship.

On a global level, they drive girl-led advocacy through toolkits, leadership opportunities, and media initiatives.

In 2021/2022, the Eurofins Foundation is supporting the “She’s the First Girl-Led Incubator”.

This Incubator sponsors and trains girl-led organisations that are transforming outcomes for girls in their community. Over three years, leaders are trained on non-profit governance, capacity building, financial management, programme design and impact evaluation, with the ultimate goal of sustaining themselves independently.

Young women who have overcome the same obstacles in their communities are best positioned to be mentors, especially on safety, hygiene and girls’ rights. And yet, these leaders are often chronically underfunded and overlooked.

The Girl-Led Incubator Fellows and their teams will attend monthly workshops facilitated by experts and communicate regularly with a coach. At the end of this experience, they will have developed a clear organisational purpose, with a clear mission and vision statements, a concrete programme scope, strategies to recruit the most underserved girls into the programme, and monitoring and evaluation metrics, along with sustainable budgets and fundraising pipelines.
