COVID-19 Antibody Testing

Antibody Testing and Rapid Antibody Testing

Test for the presence of antibodies in response to the COVID-19 virus

The antibody test (also called serological test) detects infections after the immune system has produced antibodies that recognize the virus. These antibodies will generally remain in the bloodstream for some time after the patient has recovered from the virus. *

Through antibody testing, we can determine whether individuals have already been infected or is currently infected with COVID-19. This knowledge can help determine—based on local regulations and the patient’s medical history, in addition to PCR testing—whether it is advisable for individuals to return to daily activities such as work or travel.

* Appearance and Prevalence of antibodies:

  • Ac IgM SARS CoV2: from day 7 after onset of symptoms, disappearance after a short period after cessation of infection.
  • Ac IgG SARS CoV2: from day 14-15, may prevail for a long period after the end of infection.
  • Ac IgA SARS CoV2: can be detected shortly after IgM and even simultaneously.
