Biogenic Amines Testing
Biogenic amines can be found in a variety of feed and food for example fish, meat, wine, cheese and other fermented food products. For humans, the ingestion of small amounts of biogenic amines is harmless. Taken up in large amounts, they can cause severe poisoning. The biogenic amines are produced in feed and food by decarboxylation of the corresponding free amino acid. This decarboxylation is catalyzed by bacterial amino acid decarboxylases.
Eurofins Vitamin and Amino Acid Competence Centre has a wealth of experience in the analysis of feed and food samples and our laboratory is equipped with "state of the art" instrumentation with highly qualified staff who have developed considerable proficiency over many years in the analysis of biogenic amines.
For Biogenic Amines testing we are able to offer determination of:
- Tyramine
- Putresine
- Cadavarine
- Histamine
- Phenylethylamine
- Tryptamine
- Spermidine
- Spermine
