On-board Asbestos Removal
In accordance with SOLAS, it is not permitted for ships built after July. Our survey data shows that approximately 60% of all seagoing vessels contain asbestos.
For easy removal of asbestos Eurofins Maritime Services works together with Batteryspray. Together, we offer our clients innovative products for the removal of asbestos-containing applications, particularly the main issue: asbestos containing gaskets.
Legal framework
The Dutch SCI-547 committee approved the Batteryspray Method and decided that the Batteryspray
application for removing asbestos gaskets to be admitted in Dutch Asbestos Legalisation.
This change has since been implemented in Dutch Legalisation and took effect on July 14, 2018.
Innovative method of asbestos removal
In cooperation with Batteryspray, Eurofins Maritime Services can offer an innovative method of asbestos removal. This method is demonstrably 100% safe and also extremely cost-effective. Removal can be done by our own certified crew, after training.
The Batteryspray Method
The Batteryspray Method requires:

- BS wetting agent
- BS app (asbestos removal report – real time photos)
For the safe removal of asbestos with the Batteryspray method, special training by Batteryspray is required.
The method is carried out by at least two certified persons. BS wetting agent is a specially designed human and environmental friendly liquid.
The unique combination of the equipment and wetting agent creates a blanked of mist that prevents fibers getting air born will removing the asbestos.

Combine the removal with an on-board mobile laboratory
The asbestos removal can be combined with the possibility of an on-board mobile laboratory from Eurofins Omegam. Through this combination we can detect potential ACM on-board and remove it directly with the use of Batteryspray.
