Gardening and Oven Gloves – CE Marking & Testing Standards
Gardening gloves and oven gloves are considered Category II PPE which requires certification by a Notified Body in Europe. Our laboratory in Spain is one such Notified Body (No. 2865) and is able to certify CE Marking for these types of gloves. Besides, the below standards per regulations are recommended for retailers to understand their goods’ performance before putting them up for sale to ensure the protective performance:
Gardening Gloves
- EN ISO 21420/BS EN ISO 21420:2020 Protective gloves. General requirements and test methods
- EN 388/BS EN 388:2016+A1:2018 Protective gloves against mechanical risks of abrasion, blade cutting, tearing and perforation
Oven Gloves
- EN ISO 21420/BS EN ISO 21420:2020 Protective gloves. General requirements and test methods
- EN 407/BS EN 407:2020 Protective gloves against thermal risks (heat and/or fire)
Gardening and Oven Gloves – UKCA Marking
When placing gardening gloves and oven gloves on the Great Britain market, businesses need to meet the requirements of the Personal Protective Equipment Regulations (Regulation (EU) 2016/425 as brought into UK law and amended) and the Personal Protective Equipment (Enforcement) Regulations 2018. This requires certification by an Approved Body. Our Eurofins E&E CML laboratory is one such UK Approved Body (2503) and is able to certify UKCA marking for these gloves.
