There is an ever-growing demand from consumers for the textiles they buy to be organic and verifiably sustainable. With that vision in mind, the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) was created to help ensure that organic textiles will become a significant part of everyday life, enhancing people's lives and the environment.

As the global standard for processing textiles made from organic fibres, GOTS sets worldwide requirements for environmentally-conscious production systems and social accountability across the organic textiles supply chain.

The aim of the standard is to define world-wide recognised requirements that ensure the certified organic status of textiles, from the harvesting of the raw fibre, through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing up to labelling in order to provide credible assurance to the end consumer.

Textile processors and manufacturers are thus enabled to export their organic fabrics and garments with one certification accepted in all major markets.
The Eurofins Softlines & Leather laboratory in Elche, Spain is accredited for GOTS to certify for the Spanish market in three scopes:

• Scope 1: Certification of mechanical textile processing and manufacturing operations and their products
• Scope 2: Certification of wet processing and finishing operations and their products
• Scope 3: Certification of trading operations and related products
